This is the first in a series of research reports about student-athlete data from the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse (IEC). This report focuses on two high-school classes with largely complete data — the 1994 seniors and the 1995 seniors.Descriptive features include demographic characteristics of the IEC students, high-school core courses and core grades, nationally standardized test scores, either the SAT or the ACT, and the final initial-eligibility certification under the existing rules (Bylaw 14.3). This presentation of IEC data is intended to provide some basic information on high-school academic performances of current student-athletes.
This report examines the predictors of college graduation for student-athletes. Presented first are five-year graduation results from the 1984 and 1985 cohorts of the NCAA data base.
