This publication incorporates the final legislative actions taken by the Division I Board of Directors from August 1, 1999, through the Board’s April 2000 meeting. In addition, interpretations identified by the Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet Subcommittee on Legislative Review/Interpretations are included in the Manual.
 
Division III Manual
This publication incorporates the legislative actions of the 94th annual NCAA Convention, January 9-11, 2000. In addition, interpretations identified by the Division III Interpretations and Legislation Committee, noncontroversial amendments adopted by the Management Council, pursuant to Constitution 5.3.1.1.1, and modifications of wording adopted by the Management Council, pursuant to 5.4.1.1.1, are included in the Manual. Legislation approved by the 94th Convention is set off by a gray background and contains the date of adoption or revision.
 
Research — NCAA Study of Substance Use Habits of College Student-Athletes - 2001
This study is the fifth in a series conducted for or by the NCAA to measure the substance-use patterns of NCAA college student-athletes. The initial National Study of the Substance Use and Abuse Habits of College Student-Athletes was presented in 1985. Subsequent studies have been conducted at four-year intervals.
 
Revenues & Expenses of Div-I/II Intercollegiate Athletics Programs - Financial Trends & Relationships 2001
The financial information in this report is classified and presented in detail by division. In addition, summary tables present limited data for all divisions. The reported numbers consist almost entirely of averages and frequency distributions for the respective divisions. Financial data for the 1985 and 1989 fiscal years are taken from the 1990 edition of the report by the same title.
 
Revenues & Expenses of Div-III Intercollegiate Athletics Programs - Financial Trends & Relationships 2001
This report provides summary information concerning revenues and expenses of NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletics programs for the 2000-2001 fiscal year. It is the result of a questionnaire survey conducted during the fall of 2001.
 
1999-00 Gender-Equity Report
This report provides summary information concerning personnel, revenues, expenses and other comparative variables of men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics programs at NCAA member institutions for the 1999-00 fiscal year. The summary information may be used to help track gender-equity issues at the collegiate level. This report is the result of a survey conducted during the fall of 2000.

Research — 1982-00 NCAA Sports Sponsorship and Participation Rates Report
The NCAA has compiled the following statistical information regarding participation in intercollegiate athletics at its member institutions. This information provides a general view of historical trends in participation by gender, sport and division. This information has been collected in detail since the 1981-82 academic year. Statistics from the 1956- 57 through the 1981-82 academic year are included but are only available at five-year intervals and include recreation programs.

Research — 99-02: Academic Characteristics of the 1997 and 1998 Prospective Student-Athlete Cohorts in the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse
This is the continuation of a series of research reports about prospective student-athletes (PSAs) who applied to the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse (IEC). Specifically, this report is an extension of NCAA Research Reports 96-02 and 97-02 and focuses on IEC data from the most recent high-school classes for which complete data are available—the 1997 and 1998 high-school graduates. The goal of this and other reports in this series is to provide descriptive information for further research. The focus of this report is on the following academic characteristics for those PSAs who applied to the IEC for initial-eligibility certification: · High-school core courses; · High-school core-course grades; · Nationally standardized SAT and ACT Assessment scores; and · The final initial-eligibility certification under the existing Division I rules (see Bylaw 14.3 of the NCAA Division I Manual).

For the seventh consecutive year, the NCAA compiled the following statistical information regarding student-athlete race and ethnicity in intercollegiate athletics at its member institutions. This information provides a general view of recent historical student-athlete race and ethnicity trends by gender, sport and division.
 
NCAA Research Report 96-01 - A Longitudinal Analysis of NCAA Division I Graduation Rates Data
This is a descriptive analysis of trends in NCAA Division I graduation-rates data during the past seven years. The data were collected on students in the entering freshman classes between 1983 and 1989. The individual-year data were published previously in the respective class’ NCAA Division I Graduation-Rates Reports; however, this is the first published summary of trends in enrollment and graduation rates over multiple years.
 
Research — 97-02: Characteristics of Student-Athlete Data in the 1995-96 Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse
This is the continuation of a series of research reports about student-athlete data from the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse (IEC) data. It is an extension of NCAA Research Report No. 96-02 that focuses on data from the most recent high-school class for which data are available—1996 high-school seniors. For comparison, data from the 1995 high-school class also are presented and updated. Descriptive features include demographic characteristics of the IEC students, their high-school core courses and core grades, their nationally standardized SAT and ACT scores, and their final initial-eligibility certification under Bylaw 14.3, Prop. 48 and Prop. 16. This presentation is intended to provide some basic information on high-school academic performances of current student-athletes.
