DescriptionThis is the continuation of a series of research reports about student-athlete data from the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse (IEC) data. It is an extension of NCAA Research Report No. 96-02 that focuses on data from the most recent high-school class for which data are available—1996 high-school seniors. For comparison, data from the 1995 high-school class also are presented and updated. Descriptive features include demographic characteristics of the IEC students, their high-school core courses and core grades, their nationally standardized SAT and ACT scores, and their final initial-eligibility certification under Bylaw 14.3, Prop. 48 and Prop. 16. This presentation is intended to provide some basic information on high-school academic performances of current student-athletes.
