DescriptionGender Equity in College Coaching and Administration – Perceived Barriers (Barriers 2007-08), is the second study conducted by the NCAA to measure career aspirations and perceptions of careers in intercollegiate athletics among females. This study seeks to provide NCAA policymakers, conference offices and member institutions with detailed information on the perceptions and concerns of female student-athletes, coaches, administrators and officials regarding careers for females in intercollegiate athletics. The major goal of this study (and this specific report) is to outline the factors that continue to influence women’s careers, motivate women to seek careers in intercollegiate athletics, and to identify potential obstacles institutions may face in recruiting and retaining women in coaching, administrative and officiating positions.
